Driving Tunes

Hello lovely people, I hope you're having a swell Thursday.

We're going to talk music, specifically music to listen to you when you are driving. Are you finding yourself on a boring drive to the grocery store? Stuck in traffic on the way to work? Maybe you’re taking a four hour car ride to your grandparent’s house in Brooklyn. You are probably thinking, “Does it really take four hours to get to Brooklyn?” Yes … because it’s New York and we all know how inhumane driving anywhere in New York is. Well ladies and gentleman, I’m about to tell you all the reasons why you should be jammin’ out to “Santeria” by none other than Sublime.

The good thing about this song is that everybody loves it. If this comes on at the bar, you’re damn right everyone will belt out the super catchy lyrics. Why is this song the best for a car ride? It is the type of song that will just put you in a great mood. It has a beach-y undertone to it that makes you want to drink a beer by the ocean with your toes squishing in the sand. If you put your window down on a nice day while listening to this song, you won’t mind the awful traffic you’re currently buried in. It is also a great song to sing by yourself in the comfort of your car, despite the fact that you might find yourself improvising a few words. You’ll be embarrassingly slapping your steering wheel to the catchy beat.

In this song, a man named Sancho has stolen the singers girlfriend (oh no!) and the singer has killed him. I mean if you think about it, it is kind of romantic. Don’t tell me you ladies wouldn’t be slightly impressed by the gusto of a man willing to kill for you!

Despite the lyrics, it’s a carefree song and, in my opinion, it’s a classic. Trust me, this song makes you want to circle the block a few times before going home.

Well, happy almost Friday everyone. Have an A1 day!

-Rachel
